What exactly is the vestibular system? Usually when we hear “vestibular"‚ we think of balance and only balance. However, all our senses are connected to this system of small canals in our inner ear which are in turn affected by other areas in the brain. Learn what this system is, how to directly affect each of the canals, and how our work as Feldenkrais practitioners influences this system more than we realize. Simple anatomy and physiology will be covered with extended exploration of the vestibular connection to vision, sound, and the kinesthetic sense.
Charlotte Watership (1991) has practiced the Feldenkrais Method in her private practice and with certified hand therapists, specializing in clients experiencing shoulder, elbow and hand injuries and neurological disorders. Charlotte has also been an occupational therapist for 28 years and has been fascinated by the connection of the Feldenkrais Method and Sensory Integration.
