Listening With Your Whole Body: Better Hearing through Embodied Attention

Listening with Your Whole Body (LWYWB) takes somatic education into one of the least-explored realms of our experience, an area so ancient, deep, and central that we scarcely notice it. Through it we become aware of how we are touched, moved, and shaped by sound. Because listening involves far more than the ears, a holistic, embodied approach can untie auditory and perceptual knots for which standard medicine sees no solution. The quality of hearing improves because the whole person is listening differently. LWYWB has been presented for practitioners and the public in Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Graz, Oslo, Montreal, Victoria, and beyond.
David Kaetz, GCFP, developed LWYWB from his somatic work with musicians, the inspiration of Dr. Feldenkrais, ancient and modern acoustical research, and a life in music. He is the author of Making Connections (on Feldenkrais' spiritual background), the Ezekiel Code (on archetypes of somatic and psychic integration), and a forthcoming book on embodied learning.
