FGNA Legal Fund

FGNA, our organization, has weathered the decades preserving the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education.

With the current legal issues, it has become necessary for our organization to maintain an ongoing Legal Fund. Within the yearly budget, “legal expense” is a standard line item, and most years, it is adequate. Some issues require more money than others, and it is impossible to predict when extraordinary expenses may arise. It is important that we, as an organization, build and maintain a prudent reserve fund exclusively for our legal expenses.

YOUR IMMEDIATE CONTRIBUTION will be accepted with gratitude!

FGNA assets include the service marks and certification marks. In the US and Canada, having the right to proclaim being a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerCM,  or Feldenkrais® Teacher or Trainer is a privilege given only to those who meet FGNA requirements and have completed an accredited training program or are authorized Awareness Through Movement® Teachers. The vast majority of practitioners and trainees see these rights as precious.

FGNA’s Feldenkrais Method Standards of Practice, Code of Professional Conduct and governing documents are the foundation for our use of the service marks and certification marks. It is with conscientiousness and dedication that we, as Practitioners and Trainees, have formed and maintained our reputation for decades. If we were to reduce or lose these assets our reputation would suffer, and we would be much more at risk of inappropriate government regulation.

Our legal budget also supports strong ethics policies and a robust program that protects the rights of all involved.

This year the membership yearly renewal form provides you an opportunity to contribute financially to this essential aspect of our professional organization. Please consider a contribution to the FGNA Legal Fund, which may be a business deduction up to the extent allowed by the IRS. With your
support, FGNA will remain firm and dedicated to maintaining and protecting the service marks and certification marks for future generations of Practitioners, the public, and our profession.

We will continue to build this fund as part of the legacy of the Feldenkrais Method.

Contribute Now! All donations $25 and over will receive a free gift: a copy of Jerry Karzen’s Feldenkrais Summit talk, “Moshe Feldenkrais: Stories about a Master Storyteller,” will be emailed to you within two weeks of your donation1.
