Research and the Feldenkrais Method

There is a growing body of research conducted by scientists, scholars, and Feldenkrais practitioners around the world exploring all aspects of the Feldenkrais Method, including its efficacy, applications, theoretical foundations, and more.

The Feldenkrais® Educational Foundation of North America (FEFNA)
FEFNA supports theoretically grounded research that extends and advances the Feldenkrais Method. To further this work, FEFNA established a Research Committee. In 2005, the committee established the Esther Thelen Research and Education Fund. In the fall of 2011, the Research Committee and the Esther Thelen Fund Subcommittee reorganized into the Esther Thelen Research Committee.

Feldenkrais® Science Network
FeldSciNet is for people interested in actively doing or supporting research concerning the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education. It is a space in which Feldenkrais practitioners with research interests and researchers who are exploring human development in educational, clinical, and research circles can all cross paths. Through this forum, we can discover common interests, combine resources, and share our findings with others.

2016 Esther Thelen Research Forum
“Developing Skillful Movers to Improve Health and Quality of Life” was held Friday morning, July 8, 2016 as part of the Feldenkrais Method® Conference program. The Forum featured experts who presented research and theoretical models grounded in dynamic systems and ecological perspectives on the development of skillful movement in typical and atypical children, adolescents, and adults. The panel's viewpoint emphasized the process of skill development in movement education programs to promote motor competence for lifelong physical activity ranging from throwing to rising from the floor.
